The funeral of industrialist Sunjay Kapur, will take place in New Delhi today, June 19, state reports on various news portals. The final rites rituals are reportedly scheduled for 5 PM at the Lodhi Road Cremation Ground, according to a press note issued by the Kapur family. A viral post doing the rounds even states that a special prayer meet will be held on June 22 at the Taj Palace Hotel in Delhi, from 4 PM to 5 PM.The note, which has been widely shared on social media handles, was singed by Sunjay’s mother Rani Surinder Kapur, his wife Priya Sachdev Kapur, their children Azarias and Safira. Fans also noted the inclusion of his children with Karisma Kapoor — Samaira and Kiaan among the signatories.Kapur, 53, passed away on June 12 after reportedly suffering a heart attack while playing for the Queen’s Cup polo tournament in London. Some reports suggest the cardiac arrest may have been triggered by a freak accident involving a bee sting.His last rites were reportedly delayed allegedly due to the legal formalities linked to Sunjay’s US citizenship and the repatriation of his mortal remains to India. His father-in-law, Ashok Sachdev, confirmed to NDTV that post-mortem procedures were being completed in the UK before arrangements were made for transporting the body to Delhi.Sunjay Kapur, who was known not only for his role in the business world but also the sporting world of Polo, had many of his team members paying touching tribute and honouring his memory. On the personal front, tributes came pouring in from friends, family and business acquaintances alike. Some took to social media to offer their condolences to Sunjay’s wife Priya and his children. The billionaire had been married three times. His first marriage was to fashion designer Nandita Mahtani in 1996, which lasted four years. He then married Karisma Kapoor in 2003. The couple, who share two children — Samaira and Kiaan — divorced in 2016 after filing for mutual separation in 2014. In 2017, Sunjay married Priya Sachdev, with whom he shares a son, Azarias.
