Fans are eagerly awaiting the release of superstar Rajinikanth’s ‘Coolie’ in theatres on August 14, and the latest reports show that the film has struck a massive deal for its international distribution.Coolie’s overseas distributionAccording to Pinkvilla, the overseas theatrical rights of Coolie have been acquired for a staggering Rs 68 crore. One of the leading distribution companies is said to have secured the rights to this highly anticipated Tamil action film. “The international rights for Coolie have been bought for Rs 68 crore,” the source noted.The report also highlights that the film might have fetched an even larger sum had it not been slated for release alongside Hrithik Roshan’s ‘War 2’ . Coolie has nevertheless managed to set a significant benchmark in Tamil cinema. It now stands as Rajinikanth’s biggest overseas deal to date, and the second highest in the industry overall, trailing only behind Thalapathy Vijay’s ‘Jana Nayagan’, which sold international rights for Rs 75 crore.
