Arthur Folasa Ah Loo, the beloved fashion designer and 2019 Project Runway contestant, tragically lost his life during a peaceful protest in Salt Lake City. Known to many as “Afa,” Ah Loo was fatally shot when two individuals opened fire on a man allegedly brandishing a rifle, with one stray bullet striking him in the stomach. The horrifying moment was caught on camera by a lawyer filming the ‘No Kings’ rally, where panic quickly spread. Ah Loo, a proud voice of Pacific Islander heritage and community empowerment, left behind a wife and two young children. Moana star Auli’i Cravalho, who wore his design to the Moana 2 premiere, remembered him as more than a designer, a true inspiration.
