Most Bollywood fans remember Ready, starring Salman Khan and Asin, as one of those fun, light-hearted entertainers that really struck a chord with audiences. But what many might not realize is that the film was actually a remake of the 2008 Telugu hit Ready, which originally starred Ram Pothineni and Genelia D’Souza. In a recent chat with Siddharth Kannan, Genelia was asked if she ever felt bad about not being part of the Hindi remake, especially since the original film was such a huge success for her. Her answer? Surprisingly chill. “No, not at all. I would’ve loved to do it, of course, because it was my film down south and I really enjoyed it,” she said. “But maybe, just maybe, there’s another film waiting for me with Salman Khan — you never know.” Fans loved her humble and optimistic response, and the clip quickly started making rounds on social media. The original Ready was a total laugh riot. Directed by Srinu Vaitla, it came out in 2008 and turned out to be a surprise blockbuster. Ram Pothineni played the lovable troublemaker Chandu, and Genelia lit up the screen as Pooja. The film had everything — comedy, drama, family madness, and of course, some unforgettable performances by legends like Brahmanandam and Sunil. It became one of the most-loved family entertainers of its time. When the movie was remade in Bollywood, it took on a big, colorful, masala vibe. Salman Khan and Asin took the lead this time, and director Anees Bazmee gave it his trademark touch — lots of laughs, action, romance, and songs that topped the charts. The 2011 release went on to become one of the biggest hits, even though it didn’t release during a festive season.Even though Genelia didn’t get to be part of the Hindi version, fans still remember her sparkling performance in the original. And who knows, maybe someday we’ll finally get to see her share the screen with Salman Khan. Fingers crossed!
