Rookie co-ed group ALLDAY PROJECT, under THEBLACKLABEL, who made their official debut on June 23, has already seen great success in their home country, South Korea. Just two days after their debut, their first single Famous surged to the top of Melon’s ‘Top 100’ chart, marking a strong start for the group.

By June 28, Famous claimed the No. 1 spot on Melon’s daily chart, which tracks listener usage over the previous 24 hours. Their second track, Wicked, also showed promise by entering the chart at No. 40, signaling a successful debut run.

Tarzzan faces mounting backlash

While the group has been gaining massive success, the backlash has also been mounting. Tarzzan was the first member to come under fire even before the group’s debut. The rapper of the group has been seen sporting braided hairstyles in teasers and now even during promotions.

The controversy escalated to the point that the hashtag #TARZZAN_OUT trended for a long time. However, it seems he and his agency did not bother much, as they went ahead with their schedule.

From visuals to vibe, fans aren’t buying it

While South Koreans are showering love on the group, international K-pop fans are not as on board – especially with Tarzzan. From his looks to even his mannerisms, everything has been scrutinized, with many asking “how he even has fans” or “how he became an idol”.

The outrage began after an ALLDAY PROJECT community on X (formerly known as Twitter) shared a video of him and wrote the words “He’s insane” with it. In the video, Tarzzan is seen trying to hype up the crowd and give them flying kisses.

The video was then shared on TikTok, and the edit is being circulated on X again, with many calling him names and wondering “how he ever made his debut”.

One wrote, “Yeah let’s lock him in a mental institution QUICK.”

Another wrote, “He’s like a new version of that green gremlin from Treasure.”

One said, “Pls stop putting that Tarzzan dude on my TL my eyes hurt every time I see him.”

Another said, “If you stan Tarzzan i’m just gonna assume you’re racist.”

One added, “On top of being racist and ignorant, Tarzzan is such a fuckin dork. Like nothing I’ve seen shows a reason for him to be an idol. It’s like they only debuted him so YG can meet their CA quota for the month.”
