Jasprit Bumrah, the world’s No. 1 Test bowler, led India’s bowling attack in the first Test against England at Headingley, Leeds. Despite claiming five wickets in the first innings, India suffered a five-wicket defeat in the series opener.Bumrah, who had won the ICC Cricketer of the Year award, appeared alongside his wife Sanjana Ganesan on Harbhajan Singh and Geeta Basra’s show ‘Who’s The Boss’. So how will you run with me?). This was in response to Bumrah’s suggestion to elope with him before their marriage.On the field, Bumrah’s availability for the second Test at Edgbaston, Birmingham, scheduled from July 2 to 6, remains uncertain. India’s team management, including chief selector Ajit Agarkar, head coach Gautam Gambhir, captain Shubman Gill, and Bumrah himself, have confirmed that he will participate in only three matches of the five-match series against England.During the first Test, former India captain Sunil Gavaskar had requested on-field presenter Sanjana to convince Bumrah to play all five matches for India, following his impressive performance in the first Test. He very carefully side-stepped that question. The team management has also not specified which two Tests Bumrah will sit out.Bumrah’s Test cricket record in England shows significant achievement with 42 wickets in nine matches. He currently stands as the third-highest wicket-taker for India in England, following Ishant Sharma and Kapil Dev.Ishant Sharma leads the list with 48 wickets from 14 Tests in England, while Kapil Dev secured 43 wickets in 13 Test matches on English soil.
