‘Kannappa’ box office collections day 7: Vishnu Manchu’s film mints Rs 30.10 crores

After much hype and anticipation, ‘Kannappa’, the mythological epic headlined by Vishnu Manchu, has concluded its first week at the box office with underwhelming figures. Despite boasting a massive star ensemble including Prabhas, Mohanlal, Akshay Kumar, and Kajal Aggarwal in key roles, the film has earned Rs 30.10 crore (India net) in seven days.Kannappa Movie ReviewSlow slide after a strong startAccording to the Sacnilk website, the film opened to a decent start on its first Friday as it collected Rs 9.35 crore across all languages. However, the weekend showed a gradual dip instead of growth, with Saturday bringing in Rs 7.15 crore and Sunday closing at Rs 6.9 crore. While these numbers indicated a mild fall, the real trouble began post-weekend.The weekday collections saw a sharp decline as Monday brought just Rs 2.3 crore, followed by Rs 1.8 crore on Tuesday. The trend continued with ₹1.35 crore on Wednesday and Rs 1.25 crore on Thursday (early estimates).

Low occupancy adds to woes‘Kannappa’ struggled with theatre occupancy too. On its seventh day, the Telugu version saw an average occupancy of only 12.89%. Morning shows stood at 11.06%, improving slightly for night shows at 13.99%. Directed with grandeur and ambition, ‘Kannappa’ was expected to ride on the shoulders of its leading cast and visual scale. Alongside Vishnu Manchu, the film features veteran actors like Mohan Babu and R. Sarathkumar, along with a special appearance by Prabhas. But the early signs indicate that star power alone hasn’t been enough to pull the audience in consistently.Unless a miraculous turnaround happens over the next weekend, ‘Kannappa’ might end up being one of the biggest underperformers among big-budget mythological releases this year.
