Kajol is all set to make her big screen comeback with Maa, the mythological drama produced by Ajay Devgn . The film is gearing up for release on 27th June 2025.
Interestingly, the film is coming two years after Kajol made her debut on OTT with a show called The Trial: Pyaar, Kaanoon, Dhokha. During the promotions of that show when asked which real-life person she would like to put on trial, Kajol jokingly named her husband. “I’d put Ajay Devgn on trial and I don’t even need to give any reason for it. Being a husband is more than a reason to put him on trial — and knowing him, he will even accept the charges,” the actress had quipped. The statement quickly went viral, with fans appreciating the couple’s trademark banter and easy camaraderie.
Now, the duo is set to collaborate professionally once again. Touted as one of Kajol’s most emotionally charged performances in recent years, Maa follows the journey of a mother grappling with personal loss, resilience, and sacrifice. Industry insiders describe the film that showcases Kajol in a role with significant emotional depth.During the promotions of Maa she confessed that she isnt a horror buff at all. “There are so many things in life that scare you naturally. You don’t have to watch a movie, basically ” she added. Despite her personal aversion to horror, the actress is surrounded by family members who are die-hard fans of the genre. “My husband, my son, my nephews — everybody around me loves, loves, loves horror. They watch at least one film every week. Come hell or high water.”While Kajol admits to watching a few horror classics, she does so with a twist. “I watch these films without sound. Without sound, I’m not that scared,” she laughed. It’s a trick many wary viewers might relate to — muting the jump scares while still soaking in the eerie visuals.
