When the driver allegedly failed to stop, police pursued the vehicle – a hatchback – south toward Mascot, where the driver crashed into a pole on Botany Road.
The six boys allegedly fled from the crash and a search involving officers from two area commands, as well as a police helicopter, ensued. They were arrested.
A video taken of the incident and posted to social media shows a dark blue sedan crumpled against a pole with at least seven police cars on scene.
A teenage boy dressed in dark clothing can be seen lying on the ground while talking to police, before being assisted up and walked to a police car.
The 14-year-old boy was treated at the scene by NSW Ambulance paramedics for abdominal pain and taken to Sydney Children’s Hospital in a stable condition.
The other five teens were also taken to hospital as a precaution and remain under police guard.
