London: It’s not even a month since that five-hour 29-minute Roland Garros epic which Jannik Sinner finished on the wrong end of, after having three match points. But if you’re wondering how the world No. 1 is doing on Wimbledon’s grass, go no further than his ball striking. Firecracker crispy. The Italian’s mood reflects in his stats at SW19. After putting out Pedro Martinez, the 28-year-old Spaniard, 6-1, 6-3, 6-1 in 1hr and 55 min in the third round, Sinner was told that he had bettered the eight-time champion Roger Federer’s efficiency record at this stage of the Championships. Sinner has conceded just 17 games so far in the tournament, while the Swiss artiste had dropped two games more in 2004.The 23-year-old plays a man once nicknamed ‘Baby Fed’ Grigor Dimitrov in the fourth round on Monday.Sinner, who is yet to be broken in the tournament, having saved all eight breakpoints he has faced so far, has been crushing his serves. His average first serve speed is 202 kmph. The Italian has spent a total of 5 hr and 23 min on court. “New tournament, new surface,” he said. “I’m not concerned that one loss can influence you for such a long time.”
Mirra Andreeva, the seventh seed, put out American Hailey Baptiste 6-1, 6-3; eighth-seeded Iga Swiatek shut the door on American Danielle Collins 6-2, 6-3. Dane Clara Tauson brought down the former champ and 11th seed Kazakh Elena Rybakina 7-6 (6), 6-3.

Yuki Bhambri and American Robert Galloway pair enters third round

India’s Yuki Bhambri and American Robert Galloway, the 16th seeds, staged a splendid rally in the second round against Portugal’s Nuno Borges and American Marcos Giron in the Wimbledon men’s doubles, sealing a 6-3, 7-6 (6) win in 90 minutes. In the 3rd round, Bhambri & Galloway will play the fourth seeds Granollers and Zeballos. Granollers and Zeballos beat Sriram Balaji and Mexico’s Miguel Reyes-Varela 6-4, 6-4. Ritwik Bollipalli and Nicolas Barrientos went down to the sixth seeds Joe Salisbury and Neale Skupski 4-6, 6-7 (7).
