London:Novak Djokovic’s body bailed out on him in his 14th Wimbledon semi-final on Friday when he was up against the world No.1 Jannik Sinner. The 38-year-old, who appeared physically hampered throughout the match, feeling the effects of a nasty fall during his quarter-final, had a trainer attend to him.“As much as I’m taking care of my body, reality hits me right now. The last year and a half it has been tough for me to accept the (situation),” the seven-time champion said. “I feel like when I’m fresh, when I’m fit, I can still play really good tennis. I’ve proven that this year. Playing best-of-five, particularly this year, has been a real struggle physically.”Djokovic added, “I’ve reached the final stages of every Slam this year, but I have to play Sinner or Alcaraz. These guys are fit, young, sharp. I feel like I’m going into the match with a tank half empty.”.
Djokovic is hopeful that he’ll return to Centre Court, at least one more time.“Hopefully it’s not my last match on Centre Court,” he said after his loss to Sinner. “I’m not planning to finish my Wimbledon career today. I’m definitely planning to come back one more time at least.”
