On the eve of Australia’s first Test against West Indies, former Aussie legend Ian Healy launched into Windies seamer Shamar Joseph. Healy, ex-Australia wicketkeeper, slammed the quick for warning Sam Konstas to ‘look out’ during the first Test which started on June 26.“OK Shamar, well you’ve delivered crap all year,” Healy said on SEN ahead of the first Test. “So he better improve, that’s what I’m saying. ‘He’s got real trouble. ‘You’re not Curtly Ambrose, champ,” he added.Go Beyond The Boundary with our YouTube channel. SUBSCRIBE NOW!On the opening day, as 14 wickets fell at Bridgetown, four of them went to Joseph including, ironically, that of Konstas. In the fourth over of the match, Aussie opener Konstas was struck on the back leg. The delivery beat the inside edge and struck Konstas’ inner thigh in front of middle and off stump. Windies’ appeal for leg before was turned down, forcing them to take the review. On video assessment, it became clear that with no bat involved, the ball was going to hit the leg stump. In the process, Joseph delivered the first blow to Australia who were bowled out for 180 runs. Alongside Joseph’s 4/46, Jayden Seales was the pick of the bowlers for the West Indies. However, West Indies were unable to make the most of the modest total, standing 57/4 at close of play. Australia are playing a Test series in the West Indies for just the first time since 2015.

This isn’t the first time Joseph has bothered the Australian batting. In only his second Test in January 2024, Joseph took six wickets in an incredible 10-over spell as Australia failed to chase down 216 run target. He eventually registered figures of 7/68 as the visitors won by 8 runs at the Gabba – their first victory on Australian soil in 27 years.
