NEW DELHI: Cricketer Rinku Singh and Member of Parliament Priya Saroj officially celebrated their engagement in a grand ceremony held on June 8 at The Centrum, a luxury hotel in Lucknow. Reports suggest 15 rooms were reserved at the hotel, five of them exclusively for Rinku’s close circle.
Who is Priya Saroj?
At just 25, Priya Saroj has made a name for herself as one of India’s youngest MPs, representing the Machhlishahr constituency in Uttar Pradesh. Daughter of seasoned politician Tufani Saroj, she stepped into the political spotlight during the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, defeating the BJP’s BP Saroj by over 35,000 votes.
Before entering politics, Priya was a law practitioner. An alumna of Amity University, Noida, she practised at the Supreme Court of India. Despite her political lineage, she initially had no plans to enter public office. Her relationship with Rinku Singh, rooted in mutual respect and friendship, gradually evolved over the past year. “Rinku and Priya have known each other for more than a year now. They both liked each other but needed their families’ consent for the relationship. Both families have agreed to this marriage,” Tufani Saroj stated, as quoted by PTI.With both families on board, their engagement now marks a union of ambition, youth, and public service.
