Watch: 14-year-old Vaibhav Suryavanshi smashes fastest youth ODI century

Fourteen-year-old Vaibhav Suryavanshi lit up the youth cricket world once again and this time with a sensational 143 off just 78 balls against England U-19.The young batter, representing India U-19, showed off his full range of strokeplay, hammering 13 fours and 10 sixes at a strike rate of 183.33 in a sensational knock. For those who’ve been following Vaibhav since his explosive IPL debut for Rajasthan Royals, this performance came as no surprise. He had already stunned fans with a 35-ball hundred in the IPL, and this latest innings confirmed that it wasn’t a one-off. It was further proof that Vaibhav isn’t just a prodigy, he’s a performer.

Akash Deep press conference: On replacing Jasprit Bumrah, message from Gautam Gambhir and more

His hundred came off just 52 balls, making it the fastest ever in Youth ODI history. He broke records on all fronts: youngest Indian to score a Youth ODI ton (breaking Sarfaraz Khan’s mark from 2013), and also the youngest centurion in Youth ODIs globally, overtaking Bangladesh’s Najmul Hossain Shanto.

    Poll

Is Vaibhav Suryavanshi the future star of Indian cricket?

While analysing his Youth ODI knock during the India vs England Test, Michael Atherton pointed out from the commentary box how Vaibhav’s clean, fearless bat swing reminded him of Rishabh Pant, saying the youngster shows the same aggressive instinct.More than the records, it was the way he batted that left an impression; he was fearless, fluent, and completely unfazed by the opposition or the occasion. The ball flew to all parts of the ground, and for anyone watching, it was a highlight reel unfolding in real time. For Indian cricket fans and coaches, Vaibhav’s rise is both thrilling and promising. His maturity at the crease, combined with natural aggression, makes him one of the most exciting young players in the world. And based on what we’re seeing, you’ll want to keep watching.
