UK Travel Firm Great Little Escapes Collapses, Thousands of Summer Holidays at Risk

Thousands of UK holidaymakers are facing travel disruption after Berkshire-based travel agency Great Little Escapes LLP collapsed into administration. The firm, an ATOL-protected company, has ceased trading, putting summer plans in jeopardy for customers who booked flights and package holidays.

    Affected Brands and Websites

Operating under multiple brand names—including Your Holidays, Tunisia First, and well-known travel sites like www.themaldives.co.uk, www.yourholidays.co.uk, www.thecaribbean.com, and **www.greatlittleescapes.co.uk**—the company offered everything from luxury spa breaks to beach holidays and family-friendly resorts.

    CAA Issues Urgent Guidance

The Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) confirmed the collapse and issued a public advisory:

“We are currently gathering information from the company and will provide updates as soon as possible.”

The CAA stressed that affected customers should not yet submit compensation claims, noting that any early claims will be automatically rejected.

Travel Agents Ordered to Freeze Refunds

The CAA also instructed travel agents holding customer payments to refrain from issuing refunds until further notice from the Air Travel Trust:

“If you are a travel agent of Great Little Escapes LLP and holding consumer payments not yet passed on to the company, do not refund customers until official instructions are provided.”

The CAA will contact agents individually with guidance on managing bookings and funds.

Not Affiliated with Great Little Breaks

To avoid confusion, authorities clarified that Great Little Escapes LLP is not connected to Great Little Breaks, a different travel provider that remains unaffected.

    Follows Earlier Jetline Travel Collapse

This latest failure comes on the heels of Jetline Travel’s collapse in March 2025. That London-based agency had been in operation for over 25 years and had booked hundreds of thousands of holidays under brands such as Bargain Late Holidays and Cruise and More.

Jetline’s administration was handled by Alan Clark of Carter Clark and Neil Bennett of Leonard Curtis. Their collapse highlighted growing pressure in the UK travel industry—pressures that now seem to have claimed another major firm just before peak summer travel season.

    What Affected Holidaymakers Should Do

Customers with bookings through Great Little Escapes should:

    • Wait for CAA updates before taking action or filing claims.
    • Avoid contacting travel agents for refunds until further notice.
    • Monitor the CAA’s official ATOL website for announcements and compensation eligibility updates.

The ATOL protection scheme remains in place to safeguard consumers financially, but payouts can only begin once investigations are complete.

    Summary

As thousands of travellers brace for potential disruptions to their summer holidays, the collapse of Great Little Escapes serves as another reminder to book trips with ATOL-protected providers and stay informed through official channels in times of industry instability.
