Cheese curds sold at Trader Joe’s are currently under recall for potential Listeria contamination, the company announced on Friday.
Check your fridge for the popular cheese product, which is being pulled from stores in two states.
The recalled cheese curds can be identified by the following information:
- Product Name: Face Rock Creamery’s Vampire Slayer Garlic Cheddar Curds
- Size: 6 oz.
- Use-By Date: August 29, 2025
- UPC: 8 51222 00528 7
- Lot Numbers: 20250519VS01 and 20250519VS02
Food and Drug Administration
The recalled cheese was sold at Trader Joe’s locations in the following areas:
- Northern California: Monterey, Fresno, and all locations North
- Northern Nevada: Carson City, Reno, and Sparks
The affected cheese may be contaminated with Listeria, bacteria that can cause severe foodborne illness.
Face Rock Creamery, the cheese’s producer, discovered that the cheese products contained Listeria during routine testing. The company is continuing to investigate how the products became contaminated.
If you’re a Trader Joe’s shopper, check your fridge for the recalled cheese. If you have the product, discard or return it to Trader Joe’s, and monitor for symptoms of Listeria.
Common Listeria symptoms include:
- Fever
- Flu-like symptoms, such as muscle aches and fatigue
- Headache
- Stiff neck
- Confusion
- Loss of balance
- Seizures
