'Thug Life' box office collection day 12: Kamal Haasan starrer sees a sharp decline as it mints over Rs 29 lakhs

Kamal Haasan’s starrer action-drama ‘Thug Life’, directed by celebrated filmmaker Mani Ratnam, is facing a tough time at the box office. After a good start, the film experienced a decline in collections, particularly after its first week. On Day 12, the film managed to earn just Rs 29 lakhs, as per early estimates, marking one of its lowest single-day figures since release. As per trade analyst Sacnilk, the film’s weekday collections have been consistently underwhelming. In fact, ‘Thug Life’ has failed to cross the Rs 1 crore mark on any day since Day 8, when it pulled in Rs 1.45 crore. Since then, the numbers have steadily declined, with Day 9, the second Friday bringing in Rs 75 lakhs, followed by Rs 90 lakhs each on the second Saturday and Sunday, bringing to a total of Rs 46.84 crore.Theatre occupancyThe occupancy figures further underline the dip in public interest. On Monday, June 16, the film recorded just 16.45% occupancy in Tamil Nadu theatres, with the morning shows faring the weakest at 14.80%. Evening and night shows hovered around 16-18%.About the filmThe film stars Kamal Haasan as Rangaraaya Sakthivel, a feared mafia kingpin in New Delhi, alongside Silambarasan as Amaran, his foster son.The movie is in the 1990s underworld after Sakthivel faces betrayal by his brother Manickam and his own foster son Amaran.
