Karisma Kapoor’s ex-husband Sunjay Kapoor’s sudden demise has left everyone shocked. He was playing polo in UK and suffered a heart-attack as confirmed by his company in a statement. However, Suhel Seth said that he had swalloed a bee. He was quoted by ANI saying, “Sunjay died of a heart attack, apparently after swallowing a bee during a polo match in England.”Kareena Kapoor Khan, Saif Ali Khan reached Karisma’s house on Thursday night as this news came. Meanwhile, talking about Sunjay and Karisma’s relationship. The couple got married in 2003 and filed for divorced in 2014. This divorce was finalised in 2016. At that point, the duo had a lot of disagreements and things turned sour between them. The custody of their children was also a concern which brought a rift between them. Eventually as per the court’s orders, Karisma got the custody of her children while Sunjay was granted visitation rights. The Supreme Court also quashed a previously filed FIR by Karisma.ANI reported that during the divorce, Sunjay bought bonds worth Rs 14 crore for both his children with an interest payment of Rs 10 lakh. He also gave ownership of a house owned by his father to Karisma. While Karisma and Sunjay didn’t share a good rapport during their divorce, they later were quite cordial with each other. Infact, they celebrated their daughter Samaira’s 18th birthday together in 2023. Sunjay had shared a photo with his children Samaira, Kian and also Karisma. This photo also featured Priya Sachdev. Sunjay married Priya in 2017 after divorce with Karisma. They have a son who was also seen in this picture.Meanwhile, the statement by Sunjay’s company which confirmed his demise, read, “It is with profound sorrow that we announce the untimely passing of Sunjay J Kapur Chairman and Non-Executive Director of Sona Comstar, following a sudden heart attack in England, UK, on 12th June 2025, at the age of 53.”
