Sunita Ahuja on son Yashvardhan’s Debut: “I told him not to copy Govinda”: Exclusive
Govinda’s son, Yashvardhan Ahuja, is gearing up for his Bollywood debut in 2026, as revealed by his mother, Sunita Ahuja. She emphasized his rigorous training in dance and acting, encouraging him to forge his unique style, distinct from his father’s iconic legacy. Sunita actively guides Yashvardhan, discussing projects and recommending OTT content, confident he will surpass Govinda’s success.

Bollywood fans have been curious about the acting debut of Govinda’s son, Yashvardhan Ahuja. While the industry has seen a fresh wave of star kids stepping into the limelight, Yashvardhan has kept a relatively low profile. However, in a recent candid conversation with ETimes, Govinda’s wife Sunita Ahuja opened up about her son’s much-awaited debut, his rigorous preparations, and the advice she’s personally given him to carve his own identity — away from the towering legacy of his father.Speaking about Yashvardhan’s training and preparation, Sunita couldn’t help but express pride in her son’s dedication. “Yash is preparing himself very well, he’s working very hard. ” she shared. “He dances well. He acts well. And very soon, next year, we will see him on screen,” Sunita confirmed, hinting that 2026 might finally be the year Yashvardhan makes his Bollywood debut. What’s heartening to note is the strong mother-son bond they share — one built on open conversations about cinema, scripts, and career choices. Sunita revealed that Yash frequently discusses projects and concepts with her. “Yash is the one who only asks me, ‘Mom, this is the subject, this is that.’ We have discussions at home,” she said, adding that she makes it a point to give him honest, constructive advice.Interestingly, Sunita, who actively follows trends on streaming platforms, feels it’s essential for Yashvardhan to stay aware of the changing landscape of content and cinema. “I am the one who is always watching OTT,” she remarked. Sunita often recommends shows and performances to her son, using them as reference points while cautioning him against imitation. And when it comes to comparisons with his father — one of the most iconic entertainers Bollywood has seen — Sunita has been firm about one thing. “I told him, don’t copy Govinda. I don’t want my son to be tied as Govinda. You have to make your own style,” she emphasized. While she acknowledges the pride attached to Govinda’s legacy, Sunita believes it’s crucial for Yashvardhan to build a distinct identity in an industry that can quickly typecast. In fact, she confidently declared, “He will make a better name than Mr. Govinda also.” It’s a bold statement, but one that stems from a mother’s belief in her son’s potential.
