Sonu Sood lands in trouble for riding without helmet in Spiti; police set to take action
Sonu Sood faces criticism after a video surfaced showing him riding a bike shirtless and without a helmet in Spiti Valley, despite his recent road safety advocacy. The viral video prompted backlash from netizens questioning his responsibility. Spiti police have responded, announcing an investigation and promising legal action for the apparent traffic violations.

Actor Sonu Sood is under fire for riding a bike without a helmet or safety gear in Spiti Valley—despite recently advocating for road safety. Several videos shared by an Instagram page show the actor riding shirtless with just his goggles on. The clips quickly went viral, drawing criticism from netizens. In response, the Spiti police announced on X (formerly Twitter) that legal action will be taken.Viral Video Sparks BacklashA video shared on Instagram three days ago shows Sonu Sood riding through the snow-capped mountains of Spiti, shirtless and in shorts, wearing only a pair of sunglasses as he cruises alongside a group of bikers. The text on the video reads, “Yeh Spiti hai…yahan sirf asli log chalte hain..(This is Spiti, only genuine people are welcome here).”Netizens Question His ResponsibilityAlthough other videos show Sonu Sood wearing a helmet, the one that went viral on social media was the clip where he was seen riding without any safety gear. While one user wrote, ‘Pls wear riding gears n helmet …you’ve been a great example of kindness and inspiration. Pls don’t encourage riding without helmet n proper gears in terrain like these’, another one added, ‘So called Star riding without helmet and gears’.One person questioned, “So will @himachalpolice take any action on @SonuSood for riding naked without a helmet in Spiti? No protective gear, no clothes — for god knows what he is trying to promote. Are celebrities above the law? @splahhp #HimachalPradesh.”Police Respond, Investigation UnderwaySpiti police released a note on X stating that they will take action against Sonu. Their statement reads, “A video is going viral on social media in which a Bollywood actor is seen violating traffic rules in Lahaul-Spiti district. According to preliminary information, the video appears to be from the year 2023.”The note further reads, “However, the task of investigating the authenticity has been handed over to DySP Headquarters, Kyelang. Whatever necessary action is required as per the law, it will be taken by the district police. District Police Lahaul-Spiti appeals to all citizens and tourists to follow traffic rules and adopt disciplined and responsible behaviour.”
