The untimely death of Shefali Jariwala on June 27 has left the entertainment world in disbelief. Best remembered as the ‘Kaanta Laga’ girl, the 42-year-old reportedly suffered a cardiac arrest late in the evening and was rushed to Bellevue Multispecialty Hospital in Andheri by her husband, actor Parag Tyagi. She was declared dead on arrival.As police continue to investigate the cause of her sudden death, fresh developments have surfaced, shedding light on a possible link between her long-term anti-ageing treatments and the fatal cardiac arrest.Friend Pooja Ghai confirms IV drip was administered on the same dayIn an interview with Vickey Lalwani, Shefali’s close friend and actor Pooja Ghai revealed that Shefali had taken a vitamin C IV drip on the day of her passing.“On that day, she did take the drip, the vitamin C. But like I said, it’s a very normal thing to take a vitamin C. I mean, we all take vitamin C, right? I think post-COVID people have just started taking vitamin C as regularly as possible,” she said, adding that she too has taken such drips before.Police questioned IV drip provider at the sceneGhai also revealed that police officers present at Shefali’s residence summoned the person who had administered the IV drip. “While I was standing there, the police guys called for the guy who gave her the IV drip to just check what was the medicine that she was taking, and that’s when it was unfolded that she had taken an IV drip,” she stated.
Anti-ageing treatments not uncommon in the industryDefending the use of such treatments, Pooja said, “It’s so common. In fact, if you walk down the streets here in Dubai, you see multiple vitamin C drips at regular clinics and salons. She was in a profession where she had to be her best, and she was her best. She looked the best.”According to reports, police have learned that Shefali had been consuming anti-ageing infusions and medications, including glutathione, for nearly a decade. The reports revealed that on the day of her death, Shefali had observed a fast due to a religious puja at her home, but still went ahead with an injection of anti-ageing medicine in the afternoon — part of a treatment prescribed to her years ago and taken monthly.Collapsed at home between 10–11 PM, declared dead at hospitalThe tragic incident reportedly took place between 10 and 11 PM when Shefali collapsed at home. She was immediately rushed to the hospital by Parag Tyagi but could not be revived.While an official cause of death has yet to be declared, initial findings suggest a possible cardiac arrest caused by unsupervised medication or treatment. Investigators are now focusing on the substances present in the IV drip and the long-term medications she had been using. The postmortem has been completed, and a final opinion is awaited.
