Shanaya Kapoor, daughter of Sanjay Kapoor and Maheep Kapoor, is all set to make her Bollywood debut with Vikrant Massey’s ‘Aankhon Ki Gustaakhiyan’. Starring opposite Vikrant Massey, who plays Jahaan Bakshi, a musician, Shanaya takes on the role of Saba Shergill, an aspiring actress. The story follows the two as they embark on a creative journey, rediscovering their passions and sense of self. Shanaya shared how closely she connected with Saba during filming.
Shanaya Kapoor about her failed auditionShe revealed that the opportunity to play Saba came through a project that didn’t work out. “I had auditioned for another project at that time, which unfortunately didn’t work out. That audition tape, the casting director really liked it and she sent it across to Sandy sir (Santosh Singh), our director, and he really liked it!”, she told in an interview with Hesha Chimah.Shanaya believes the turn of events had its purpose. “It just made me realise how, when things are meant to happen and when things are not supposed to happen, they don’t. And in the time when that audition didn’t go through and I didn’t get that project, it’s not a nice feeling, but I took it in my stride and tried to take it in a positive way… but it does bother you, of course, as an actor,” she added.Shanaya’s work frontDirected by Santosh Singh, Aankhon Ki Gustaakhiyan is scheduled for a theatrical release on July 11.Shanaya is also gearing up for another project — Tu Yaa Main, a thriller directed by Bejoy Nambiar, in which she stars alongside Adarsh Gourav. The film is expected to hit screens on Valentine’s Day in 2026.
