“Sesame Street” is headed over to Netflix with a new season.
Elmo, Cookie Monster, Abby Cadabby and their friends are going to the streaming platform later this year, with an all-new, “reimagined” 56th season, plus 90 hours of previous episodes, Sesame Workshop said in a release.
The new season will feature changes and the return of segments like “Elmo’s World” and “Cookie Monster’s Foodie Truck.”
Back in 2024, the long-running children’s series was looking for a new home for its original episodes, after Warner Bros. Discovery opted not to renew the “Sesame” output deal with HBO and Max, The Hollywood Reporter reported.
Now, Netflix has exclusive worldwide premiere rights.
However, “Sesame Street” will also continue to be available on PBS Kids. New episodes will also release the same day on PBS stations and PBS Kids platforms, the release said.
“These new episodes of the iconic series will be available same day-and-date in the U.S. on PBS stations and PBS Kids digital platforms, bringing critical early learning to children throughout the country for free” the release continued.
A premiere date for the new 56th season has not yet been released.
