R Madhavan wanted urination scene in 'Shaitaan' to feel disgusting: 'I was feeling uncomfortable so uska maine tod nikal diya'
R Madhavan revealed that the urination scene in Shaitaan made him uncomfortable, so he aimed to make it look “disgusting” to reflect his villainous role. He covered himself during filming to avoid watching the scene. Shaitaan, directed by Vikas Bahl, earned over ₹100 crore at the box office.

The psychological horror thriller ‘Shaitaan’, which hit theaters last year, turned out to be a commercial success. The film featured Ajay Devgn, Janki Bodiwala, and Jyotika, with R. Madhavan portraying the antagonist. Recently, during a conversation with Kajol about her forthcoming horror project ‘Maa’, Madhavan revealed that certain scenes in ‘Shaitaan’ made him uneasy. He specifically mentioned the urination scene and shared how he managed to perform that challenging moment as an actor.Kajol Questions Madhavan on the Realism of the SceneIn a conversation shared by JioStudios on YouTube, Kajol asked Madhavan if any scene in the film felt too realistic or made him uncomfortable. Madhavan replied, “More than that, it was very sensitive. Ek scene hain jaha pe meri beti ko main raat bhar nachata hoon, and she can’t hold her bladder anymore, and she pees. Toh, original me alag tarika tha, but isme kya hua tha ki as a villain also if I see that na, so the whole messaging changes. I was trying to figure out ki isko kaisa kare ki ekdum disgust mein badal de (There was a scene where I make my daughter dance for the whole night and she pees. Now, as a villain, if I see that it comes off with a different message. I wanted it to turn into disgust!).”How Madhavan Managed His DiscomfortHe further added, “Then I covered myself with a blanket so I didn’t have to see it, and I felt really relieved as an actor also that I don’t have to react to that also. I am just telling the mother, can you go help your daughter? Aise bohot saare scenes aaye jaha I was feeling uncomfortable so uska maine tod nikal diya (There were many scenes like these which made me feel uncomfortable and I had to come out of it somehow).”About ‘Shaitaan’‘Shaitaan’, the Hindi adaptation of the 2023 Gujarati movie Vash, centers on a family trapped in their own house by an enigmatic intruder who manipulates a young woman. Directed by Vikas Bahl, this psychological horror film grossed over Rs 100 crore at the Indian box office, as per report.
