Actress Poonam Dhillon recently addressed the long-standing perception of late superstar Sridevi. She shared that many people often portrayed the ‘Nagina’ actress as dumb in the media, but Poonam spoke about the much more intelligent side of her.Poonam Dhillon about media portraying Sridevi as dumbIn an interview with ANI, Poonam spoke about the way Sridevi was often misrepresented in the media. “Sridevi is such a brilliant actor. She couldn’t be so brilliant if she were dumb. The media would write, ‘Oh she’s dumb. She’ll say, ‘ask mummy, ask mummy.’ I say that’s a ploy. She’s a very bright and sharp girl. Otherwise, how can she be such an amazing actor? I refuse to believe it,” she said.
Poonam Dhillon’s experience working with SrideviShe also spoke about the days they worked together in films such as ‘Sone Pe Suhaaga’ and ‘Judaai’. “I’ve always been an admirer of her work. I have worked with her on a couple of films. But she was a subdued person,” she added.Dhillon also shared her own experiences navigating the film industry, admitting that she too projected a naïve image for self-preservation. She explained that this behaviour helped her maintain boundaries on sets, especially when someone made inappropriate jokes. She used to simply pretend she didn’t understand the joke and moved on. The actress also shared that if anyone started laughing at such jokes on sets, the heroes of that time used to take it as a silent willingness to do certain things in their favour.
