Pankaj Tripathi opens up on shooting ‘minimal clothing’ scene in public for ‘Metro… In Dino’; Insists 'it wasn’t for sensationalism'

Pankaj Tripathi is known for playing bold and unique characters. But in his upcoming film ‘Metro… In Dino’, the actor has done something he has never tried before—he shot a scene in public wearing very little clothing.Running barefoot… almost! In the trailer of Anurag Basu’s ‘Metro… In Dino’, there’s a blink-and-you’ll-miss-it moment where Pankaj is seen walking through a busy street in broad daylight with almost nothing on. He is only wearing socks and has a piece of cloth covering his private parts. The scene looks funny at first, but it’s actually a very important moment in the film.Talking about this daring scene, Pankaj said to Hindustan Times, “It was a great scene, shot in a real location, and I did it for the first time. I was performing in a way where the clothing was minimal, but it was necessary for the role. It wasn’t for sensationalism; it was an important part of the film’s story.”Shot in real location with peopleWhat makes the scene even more interesting is that it was filmed in a real location, in front of real people. To capture honest reactions from the public, the crew used hidden cameras. This helped make the scene feel natural and more realistic.Pankaj shared, “That sequence is a turning point. We didn’t even know when the shot started. Some of the crowd reactions captured were genuine. I was a bit nervous, but without this experiment, the storytelling wouldn’t be complete. I even ran for a few days in preparation.”‘Metro… In Dino’‘Metro… In Dino’ is a spiritual sequel to Anurag Basu’s 2007 hit ‘Life In A Metro’. Like the first film, this one also brings together an ensemble cast and tells different stories about people living in big cities and dealing with modern relationships. The cast includes Aditya Roy Kapur, Sara Ali Khan, Ali Fazal, Fatima Sana Shaikh, Kay Kay Menon, Konkona Sen Sharma, Pankaj Tripathi, Neena Gupta, Anupam Kher, and Saswata Chatterjee. The music is composed by Pritam, who also created the much-loved songs of the original film. The film is set to release in cinemas on 4 July.
