Nicole Kidman Explains Her Ever-Changing Hair After Viral Met Gala Wig

Nicole Kidman is always ready to try something new.

The actress, 57, is opening up about her ongoing hair journey – one wig at a time. In an interview with Australian network Channel Seven’s Sunrise, Kidman said, “Everyone’s like, ‘Did you chop your hair off?’ I’m like, ‘No, I did not.’ ”

Kidman recently rocked a shorter hairstyle at the 2025 Met Gala, where she wore a structural black 1950s-inspired Balenciaga gown on the carpet. Just a day before the May 5 event, she was seen with a long blonde ponytail at a Charli xcx concert in New York City.

In a newly released trailer of Hulu’s Nine Perfect Strangers, in which Kidman stars as wellness guru Masha Dmitrichenko, the actress is seen sporting yet again another short hairstyle, this time an icy blonde bob with bangs.

Kidman described the new look for the character in the interview with Sunrise. “[She’s] coming in, like, boss.”

The actress’ Nine Perfect Strangers season two costar, Murray Bartlett, jumped in, joking, “There were gasps on set” when Kidman revealed the new wig for the character.

“It was very much because Masha has to recreate herself. She always has to. And as you know, I love changing my hair,” Kidman concluded.

Kidman has styled countless looks with her natural locks and a number of wigs across her many film and television roles. Among her most notable wigs are her fiery red look complete with feathery bangs in Practical Magic in 1998, her icy blonde waves in season one of Nine Perfect Strangers, her strawberry blonde curls in Eyes Wide Shut, and more.

Nine Perfect Strangers will add Bartlett, Annie Murphy, Christine Baranski, Henry Golding, King Princess, and more to the cast in season 2. The show premieres on Hulu on Wednesday, May 21.
