Anupam Kher and Neena Gupta are all set to bring a refreshing take on mature love in Anurag Basu’s upcoming film Metro…In Dino. Ahead of its release, the veteran actors opened up about how romance in older age is finally being portrayed with realism and dignity in today’s cinema—moving away from outdated stereotypes and embracing deeper emotional connections onscreen. In converation with Bollywood Bubble, Anupam reflected on how the portrayal of romance in older age has evolved in modern cinema. He noted that acting today leans more toward authenticity rather than performance. While working with Neena Gupta, he felt that the sensibilities of both the actors and the director, Anurag Basu, played a key role in shaping the story. He pointed out that in the past, love stories featuring older characters were often treated comically or unrealistically, but now there’s a more believable approach—even when depicting a 60 or 65-year-old man falling in love with someone of similar or younger age.Neena said that intimacy between older couples should be shown with sensitivity. She stressed that after a certain age, physical closeness on screen must look graceful, not vulgar, and it depends on both the director and actor to get that right. The actress further highlighted that age should never be seen as a barrier to romance. She pointed out that many people, especially women in India, often assume that love and desire fade after a certain age. However, she sees middle-aged women today staying fit and active, proving that the desire for companionship and romance still exists—and should be embraced.Anupam Kher and Neena Gupta will be seen in Anurag Basu’s Metro…In Dino.
