Mrunal Thakur on Food, Fitness, and Why She Locks Herself Away When Puran Poli is Made at Home
Mrunal Thakur, known for her versatile acting, is anticipating the release of Son of Sardaar 2. She humorously admits to locking herself in her room to resist Puran Poli, showcasing her love for food. Mrunal maintains a balanced fitness routine with diverse workouts like Pilates, MMA, and swimming, aiming for a healthy appearance.

Mrunal Thakur is undoubtedly one of the brightest stars of the new generation in Indian cinema. The actress is currently gearing up for Son of Sardaar 2 with Ajay Devgn which is slated to release on 25th July. Mrunal is well on her way to consolidating her position as a versatile performer. But beyond the cameras, the actress recently revealed a delightful quirk about her relationship with food — and it’s wonderfully relatable. In a recent conversation Mrunal candidly confessed to a rather unique habit she follows at home. The actress, known for her love for traditional Maharashtrian food, admitted that she literally locks herself in her room whenever Puran Poli is being cooked at home. “The problem with me is that when I’m not following any particular diet, I don’t work out either,” she shared. “But everyone else around seems to be on a diet, even when they’re not working out. I love eating so much, and I especially can’t resist Puran Poli. So when it’s made at home, I just lock myself in my room to avoid the temptation.”Despite her love for food, Mrunal maintains a smart and balanced approach to fitness. She revealed that she’s not someone who spends endless hours at the gym but rather prefers efficient, mixed-format workouts. “I work out twice a day, but I don’t like being in the gym for hours. I do smart workouts and switch things up regularly because I get bored very easily,” she explained. Her fitness routine is an interesting blend of different disciplines. From Pilates and strength training to MMA, animal movements, and runs — Mrunal believes in keeping it diverse and fun. She also swears by swimming and dancing as two of the most calming and effective workouts for both the body and mind. “I don’t want to look skinny. I want to look like a khate pite ghar ki ladki — healthy, happy, and exactly how my characters demand me to be,” she added. On the work front, Mrunal Thakur has a packed year ahead. She’ll soon be seen in Hai Jaawani to Ishq Hona Hai with Varun Dhawan and Pooja Hegde. She also has Dacoit with Adivi Sesh and she’s also rumoured to be joining forces with Siddhant Chaturvedi for a Sanjay Leela Bhansali production — a pairing fans are already eager to see.
