Sara Ali Khan on why she avoids dating apps: ‘It won’t be fun for me’

Sara Ali Khan’s new film with Anurag Basu, ‘Metro In Dino’, has finally hit cinemas today (4 July). A spiritual follow-up to ‘Life in a Metro’, this romantic drama sees Sara playing a young woman caught between two men as she tries to figure out what love really means.

During promotions for the film, Sara was asked what she thinks about dating apps, which have become quite a part of modern-day romance. The actress had a refreshingly honest reply — she said she’s never used one.

Speaking to News18, the ‘Metro In Dino’ star shared, “I’ve never used a dating app. Some people use it and it’s fine but I feel that mil kar hi pata chalta hai. In a world where everything has become so digital, if meeting a partner also becomes digital, it won’t be fun for me.”

‘Metro In Dino’ could be Anurag Basu’s last hyperlinked film

Anurag Basu recently shared that ‘Metro In Dino’ might be his last film in this style of storytelling, at least for now. In an interview with News18 Showsha, he spoke about how making hyperlinked films — where many stories run side by side — is both rewarding and exhausting.

“I’m not going to make such films anymore because it’s like writing four films in one, and that takes too much time. But while it’s challenging, it’s also fun. The best part is getting to work with a whole team of actors. Hyperlinked films mein yeh ek maza hai. But as of now, ‘Metro In Dino’ feels like the final one,” he said.

However, Basu did not fully shut the door on the idea. “That’s not to say that there’s no possibility of making another hyperlinked film but even if I do, I don’t think it’s going to happen very soon,” he added.

Ali Fazal recalls his favourite pair from ‘Life In A… Metro’

Ali Fazal plays a vulnerable, dreamy musician named Akash in Anurag Basu’s ‘Metro… In Dino’. In the film, he is paired opposite Fatima Sana Shaikh. In a chat with NDTV, Ali spoke about the Bollywood films and actors who inspire him, his love for old classics, and his favourite pair from the original film ‘Life In A… Metro’. He shared, “I am an absolute admirer of Dilip Kumar, who had managed to pull off all kinds of cinema. Then there was Raj Kapoor and Kishore Kumar’s comedy. There’s Hulchul and Chupke Chupke. But we have just stopped making good comedy films.”

Talking about the earlier film, he said he fondly remembers the pairing of Shruti (Konkona) and Monty (Irrfan). Their bond is still cherished because it was a perfect example of opposites attracting. Their chemistry felt real and was shown without clichés, making it an honest and relatable love story.
