Meta and Oakley Launch AI-Powered Smart Glasses for Athletes – Starting at $499

Meta is pushing the boundaries of wearable tech again—this time teaming up with iconic sportswear brand Oakley to release its first “Performance AI” smart glasses. The new Oakley Meta HSTN smart eyewear is designed for athletes and active users, combining cutting-edge AI technology with Oakley’s bold design and premium lens tech.

Introducing the Oakley Meta HSTN: Built for Action

Inspired by Oakley’s popular HSTN (HOW-stuhn) frame design, the new smart glasses retail for $499 and come packed with next-gen features. This marks Meta’s first major smart eyewear release outside of its Ray-Ban lineup, signaling a bold new era for AI-enhanced performance wearables.

Despite earlier rumors of a center-bridge camera, the Oakley Meta HSTN keeps its 12MP ultra-wide lens on one side of the frame, capable of shooting high-quality 3K video—a major upgrade over the 1080p capture of Ray-Ban Meta smart glasses.

Key Features of Oakley Meta Smart Glasses:

    • 📸 3K POV video recording & AI-powered visual recognition
    • 🎧 Open-ear Bluetooth audio with 5 microphones
    • 🎤 Hands-free messaging, photo capture, and Meta AI access
    • 🕶️ Oakley’s Prizm and Prizm Polarized lens tech for UV protection
    • 🔋 8 hours battery life, with fast-charging case offering up to 40 hours
    • 💧 IPX4 water resistance for sweat and splash protection
    • ✋ Touch controls for music, volume, and interactions

Live Translation & Accessibility on the Go

Meta is also integrating live translation and accessibility features into these glasses. Users can take advantage of Be My Eyes integration for vision assistance, or ask Meta AI real-time questions, such as “What’s the wind speed?” while golfing.

    Premium Design and Global Rollout

The limited-edition launch model features 24K Prizm Polar lenses and gold accents, priced at $499 and available for preorder on July 11 across the US, Canada, UK, EU, and Australia. More affordable versions, starting at $399, will arrive later this summer in stylish colorways like:

    • Oakley Meta HSTN Desert with Prizm Ruby
    • Oakley Meta HSTN Black with Prizm Polar Black
    • Oakley Meta HSTN Shiny Brown with Prizm Polar Deep-Water
    • Oakley Meta HSTN Black with Transitions Amethyst
    • Oakley Meta HSTN Clear with Transitions Grey

    Global Expansion Coming Soon

Meta and Oakley plan to launch in Mexico, India, and the UAE later this year as part of their long-term partnership under the EssilorLuxottica umbrella—the same conglomerate behind Ray-Ban.

    Final Word

Whether you’re an athlete looking for real-time performance data or a tech enthusiast wanting stylish, AI-powered eyewear, the Oakley Meta HSTN Smart Glasses deliver a futuristic blend of fashion and function.
