French President Emmanuel Macron and First Lady Brigitte have filed a lawsuit in the U.S. against commentator Candace Owens, accusing her of pushing a baseless “gender conspiracy” that claims Brigitte is biologically male. The eight-part podcast “Becoming Brigitte”, released by Owens, has sparked global outrage, alleging that Brigitte’s identity is “stolen.” The Macrons allege Owens used defamatory claims for fame and profit, demanding a jury trial in Delaware over what they call “relentless global bullying.” This theory, which originated in France in 2021, had already been debunked, and the original women behind it were cleared. Now, Owens, who says Donald Trump personally asked her to stop, has doubled down, calling her podcast “the truth” in her Instagram response.
