Denver Police Deny Using Tear Gas During Anti-ICE Protest March Through Downtown
Denver, CO – June 11, 2025 – The Denver Police Department has denied reports of tear gas being used during a large anti-ICE protest that took place Tuesday evening in downtown Denver.
According to the Associated Press, protesters carrying signs—one reading “Show your faces. ICE cowards”-marched through major city streets, temporarily disrupting traffic. Police vehicles followed the demonstration, blocking off streets to manage the flow of people and cars.
Despite social media claims suggesting otherwise, Denver police confirmed that no tear gas was deployed during the protest.
“We are contacting a large group of protesters in the area of Broadway and I-25. We’re getting reports that people are saying tear gas is deployed – we have not deployed any tear gas,” a Denver Police Department spokesperson told CNN.
The protest is one of many taking place across the country as public outcry grows over federal immigration enforcement and conditions inside ICE detention centers.
