LA Flower Market employees leave work behind after reports of possible ICE raid

DOWNTOWN LOS ANGELES (KABC) — The sweeping federal ICE raids continue to spread fear across the Southland, triggering a major impact to local businesses.

In downtown Los Angeles, word of a possible raid at the L.A. Flower Market off Wall Street spooked workers who quickly left for the day on Wednesday.

There was no official confirmation of any raid, but the mere mention was enough to empty the area.

The flower market posted on social media Tuesday asking for support.

“Through recessions, earthquakes – even a pandemic – we’ve stayed rooted in resilience, built by generations of hardworking, immigrant-founded families,” they said in the post.

“ICE activity in our neighborhood is creating fear for the very people who keep our market running – our vendors, workers and customers,” they added.

They’ve been in downtown L.A. for more than 100 years and say they’re “powered by hardworking families, immigrant roots, and the love of flowers”.
