Kangana Ranaut once revealed plans to quit the film industry, admitted 'I don't want to be in Bollywood all my life' – Here's what she has to say now

Bollywood star, filmmaker, and now Member of Parliament — Kangana Ranaut is a woman who wears many hats and never shies away from speaking her mind. Known for her fierce confidence and bold choices, she has carved a space for herself that’s truly one of a kind. Recently, Kangana took a trip down memory lane and had a total fangirl moment — for herself! Sharing a clip from an old interview with Simi Garewal, Kangana proudly called her younger self “cool” and “fan-worthy”Kangana’s fangirl moment — for herself!Posting the video on her Instagram Stories, Kangana seemed quite impressed with her younger self and didn’t hesitate to say it out loud. The short clip was originally shared by her fan page, Queen Kangana Ranaut. Kangana added her own caption with the post, saying, “Honestly, if I find a young woman as cool as this, I would be a fan (clapping hands emojis).”‘How can anybody take that away from me?’In the video, Simi Garewal asks Kangana, “Suppose all these go away, what happens then?” To this, Kangana confidently replies, “How can it go away? If you are talking about time, times will change, and things will change. But what is in me and what I’ve lived, how can anybody take that away from me?”

    Kangana's story

‘I don’t want to be in Bollywood all my life’During the same interview, Simi Garewal also said to her, “Bollywood is not a secure place even for the topmost.” Kangana replied, “I myself don’t want to be in Bollywood all my life. That would be ridiculous.”When asked what she would rather do, Kangana explained, “For me, if I get stuck in time, the worst thing that can happen to me in life is I get stuck in time. I want to grow as a person, as an individual. Today, I’m acting in movies, tomorrow I would want to do something else.” These words now seem even more meaningful as Kangana has explored different paths over the years. Her journey in filmsKangana’s began her film career with the 2006 thriller ‘Gangster’. She then starred in several well-known films like ‘Woh Lamhe’, ‘Life in a Metro’, and ‘Fashion’. She also appeared in ‘Raaz: The Mystery Continues’, ‘Once Upon a Time in Mumbaai’, ‘Tanu Weds Manu’, ‘Krrish 3’, ‘Queen’, ‘Tanu Weds Manu Returns’, ‘Manikarnika: The Queen of Jhansi’, and ‘Panga’. She has received National Film Awards for her performances and was also honoured with the Padma Shri. Kangana stepped into directing with ‘Manikarnika’ and ‘Emergency’.From acting to politicsSince June 2024, Kangana has been serving as a Lok Sabha MP from Mandi. Her shift from films to politics shows that she has followed through on her early wish to grow beyond Bollywood.
