Kajol says her kids Yug and Nysa get embarrassed when she cheers for them in the crowd during stage performances: ‘They have much more severe reactions to it...'

Kajol is gearing up for the release of her upcoming movie ‘Maa’, and the actress has delivered several memorable performances as a mother in films, often portraying characters with deep emotional layers. She has now opened up about her journey as a mother in real life and how closely it relates to her on-screen portrayals. She also reflected on the lessons she learned from her mother, veteran actress Tanuja.Kajol about her bond with her kids Nysa and YugIn an interview with The Indian Express, Kajol spoke about how her over-enthusiasm can sometimes become embarrassing for her children, Nysa and Yug Devgan.Kajol recalled playing a mother in ‘Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham’ in 2001, even before she became one in real life. She later played another mother role in Fanaa (2006). She stated that certain behaviours and body language come more instinctively to a woman once she becomes a mother.

Kajol reveals Nysa’s reaction when she told her ‘I pray that you have a daughter like yourself’: ‘No, I am having sons…’

Kajol’s reaction during stage performance embarrassed her kidsThe ‘Do Patti’ actress also admitted that she is quite similar to her character in Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham. She energetically cheers for her son from the audience. “It really embarrasses my kids. My kids have much more severe reactions to that than that poor child ever did. I’ve stood up during all of Yug’s musical performances and Nysa’s stage shows, where she’s surrounded by 15 other girls, and I’m just clapping away. She just [signals me to sit down and not embarrass her],” she revealed.Kajol further spoke about the emotional depth of her character in the film My Name Is Khan. She recalled filming the heartbreaking scene in which her character loses her son. “I remember telling Karan [Johar, director], ‘I’m only going to give you one take. So you’d better have all your cameras lined up! Don’t ask me for close-ups or to do it again because I don’t think I can.’ After the scene was over, I kept crying for another 10 minutes. Karan was also crying by the end of it. We were both hugging each other and crying. It took a while to subside,” she added.Kajol’s upcoming movie MaaKajol’s upcoming movie Maa is set in the same universe as her husband Ajay Devgn’s Shaitaan. The film is scheduled to hit theatres on June 27.
