As Kajol gears up for the release of her upcoming film Maa, the actress has been opening up about her childhood memories, her bond with her mother, veteran actress Tanuja, and the life lessons she grew up with. In her recent interaction With ETimes, Kajol fondly recalled a unique piece of “training” she received from her mother as a child — one that, to this day, remains etched in her memory.Speaking about her upbringing, Kajol shared, “My mother knows how to whistle really well. So whenever she whistled, we immediately had to run back to her. We were like puppets. Wherever she was, the moment we heard that whistle, we knew we had to drop everything and go running to her.”It wasn’t just a quirky family habit — for Kajol, it became a valuable lesson in discipline and responsiveness. She narrated a vivid memory from her childhood when she once accompanied Tanuja to a film party. “I must have been just at hip height,” Kajol recalled, “and I got lost in the crowd. I mean, I was somewhere in that sea of people, and my mother couldn’t find me.”But in true Tanuja style, the veteran actress resorted to her trusted whistle. “Cut to — you can hear my mother whistling in the crowd. And there I was, yelling ‘Mom!’ and running towards her at full speed,” Kajol smiled.
