Kajol is all set to return to the big screen in a never-seen-before avatar with Maa, a mythological horror film directed by Vishal Furia. Produced by her husband Ajay Devgn under the Devgn Films banner, the movie is slated for release in theatres on June 27.During the film’s promotional run, Kajol opened up about working with Ajay Devgn in a professional capacity, and, in true Kajol fashion, did it with wit and humour.“What should I say about this producer? Mujhe bohot harass aur tang kiya hai isne (He harassed me a lot). No one will believe it,” Kajol said in a chat with Bollywood Hungama, bursting into laughter.She then quickly added on a serious note, “No. He was quite a wonderful producer. I have to say that about him.”Kajol recalls Ajay Devgn’s perspective on gender rolesIn the same conversation, Kajol shared a personal moment with her husband that reflected his admiration for her ability to juggle various roles as a woman. Recalling a conversation they once had, Kajol said:“My husband Ajay ji once told me, ‘You are so lucky. You don’t know how lucky you are. You can become Nysa’s friend. You will eventually become a grandmother. You are a mother. You have been my wife. You have managed all of these roles nicely and naturally. You didn’t have to make an effort.’”She continued, “Today, as a man, I have to make an effort to be all of these things. As women, we are taught that from the time we are children. We are so adaptable.”

It showcases Kajol in a powerful role as a mother willing to go to any lengths to protect her daughter from a sinister supernatural force. What begins as a simple road trip quickly transforms into a nightmare after an unknown entity attacks their car, trapping them in the eerie village of Chandanpur.There, Kajol’s character uncovers a cursed tree connected to a series of disappearances. As the villagers prepare to sacrifice her daughter to end the curse, she refuses to back down — challenging fate itself in a bid to save her child. The film also stars Ronit Roy, Indraneil Sengupta, and Surjyasikha Das.
