India stormed back into the series with a resounding 336-run win over England at Edgbaston, levelling the five-match contest 1-1. Leading from the front, skipper Shubman Gill was named Player of the Match for a record-breaking performance with the bat, scoring a monumental 269 in the first innings and a blazing 161 in the second, becoming the first player in Test history to post scores of 250 and 150 in the same match.Speaking after the game, Gill praised the team’s all-round effort, especially their response after the first Test setback. We knew if we get 400-500 on this kind of wicket, we’ll be in the game,” he said.

What impressed you the most about India’s performance in the second Test?

“Not everytime we’re going to drop that many catches. He bowled with so much heart. The areas and lengths he hit, he was getting the ball to move both ways. On wickets like this, it’s difficult to do that. I’d say I’m feeling comfortable with my game.”“If we win the series with my contributions, I’ll feel happier. I’ve said this before, want to play as a batsman, think as a batsman,” Gill added.Looking ahead to the third Test at Lord’s, Gill, who confirmed that Jasprit Bumrah will be back in the next match, admitted he’s excited about the opportunity, adding, “very excited for it. Possibly the most iconic stadium in the world. As a kid, you dream of it.”Akash Deep, who replaced Bumrah and grabbed a match haul of 10 wickets, made it easy for the visitors on the day with his 6/99 in the second innings. With India’s batting firing on all cylinders and bowlers stepping up in Bumrah’s absence, all eyes are now on Lord’s, where the third Test begins on Thursday.
