As England secured a 22-run victory, Gill and his men were left to rue the missed chances. Addressing the media, India captain Gill offered a crucial update on wicketkeeper-batter Rishabh Pant, who has been a lively presence in the Indian squad and an indispensable figure, both with the bat and behind the stumps. Substitute Dhruv Jurel took over wicketkeeping duties for most of the 3rd Test after Pant injured his left index finger attempting a diving stop off Jasprit Bumrah’s delivery on Day 1. However, Pant still contributed with the bat, scoring 74 in the first innings and 9 in the second.
Gill confirmed during the press conference that Rishabh Pant will resume wicketkeeping duties. We have been discussing about starting and closing sessions well. Sometimes it’s not in your control.”
