India vs England Live Score, 2nd Test Match Day 5: Shubman Gill etched his name into Test cricket folklore with a record-breaking display of batting brilliance in the second Test against England at Edgbaston. Following his colossal 269 in the first innings, Gill added 161 in the second to finish with 430 runs – the second-highest aggregate in a single Test after Graham Gooch’s 456.

India declared at 427/6, setting a near-unreachable 608-run target for England.

Gill’s feat included becoming the first-ever batter to score 250 and 150 in the same Test match and joining Sunil Gavaskar as the only Indians with a 200 and 100 in a Test. His fluency, power, and composure while batting at No. 4 – a position once held by Sachin Tendulkar and Virat Kohli – marked a generational shift in Indian cricket’s leadership.

Pant (65), Jadeja (69*), and Rahul (55) contributed valuable runs, while Mohammed Siraj and Akash Deep made early inroads into England’s top order.

By stumps on Day 4, England were struggling at 72/3, needing 536 more to win. The decision to delay the declaration drew fan frustration, but the Indian bowlers quickly silenced critics.

With Gill leading from the front and India dominating, they now stand on the cusp of levelling the five-Test series in emphatic fashion.
