IND vs ENG 3rd Test: 'I'm not 21 anymore' - Jasprit Bumrah reveals why he didn't celebrate Lord's five-for

TimesofIndia.com in London:Jasprit Bumrah etched his name into cricketing folklore with a maiden five-wicket haul at Lord’s on Friday, but there was one thing missing – a celebration. The Indian pace spearhead, who ran through England’s middle and lower order on Day 2 of the third Test, admitted he was simply too tired to celebrate.Score: India vs England 3rd Test“I didn’t celebrate there because I was tired,” Bumrah said with a smile during the post-day media interaction. “I’m not 21-22 that I will jump around. I just wanted to go back to my mark and bowl again.”Go Beyond The Boundary with our YouTube channel. His seven-ball spell in the morning session turned the game on its head, removing Joe Root (104), Ben Stokes (44), and Chris Woakes (0) to reduce England from 251/4 to 271/7.

Though England eventually posted a challenging 387 thanks to a gritty 84-run stand between Jamie Smith (51) and Brydon Carse (56), Bumrah finished with 5 for 74 — his second consecutive fifer and 15th in Tests overall, but first at the historic venue.“It’s good to be on the Honours Boards. It will be good to tell my son about it,” said Bumrah, reflecting on the milestone with quiet pride.

Is it important for cricketers to manage their workload?

All-rounder Nitish Kumar Reddy had earlier praised Bumrah’s guidance after the opening day, saying, “Just with Bumrah leading the attack, we just follow what he says.” Bumrah, however, was quick to play that down. “Nitish Reddy’s comment is a lie,” he chuckled. “He hasn’t asked me anything. I try to share my past experiences of playing here with them.”Asked about the criticism for missing the previous Test, Bumrah responded: “Sab paise kama rahe hai mere through, mujhe dua denge. Jab tak jersey pahni hai, people will continue to judge me. Sachin sir played 200 Tests but he was also judged.”India closed the day on 145/3, trailing by 242 runs, with KL Rahul (53*) and Rishabh Pant (19*) holding fort for the visitors.
