India U-19’s rising star Vaibhav Suryavanshi endured a rare failure, getting dismissed for a golden duck on Day 4 of the second Youth Test against England U-19 at Chelmsford. The 14-year-old prodigy, who lit up the 2025 IPL season with Rajasthan Royals, faced a harsh reminder of Test cricket’s challenges when he mistimed an aggressive pull shot off the very first ball he faced from England’s Alex Green, chopping it onto his stumps.

Big questions for India before 4th Test: No.3 dilemma, Kamboj debut, pitch worries

The early blow left India under pressure as they began their daunting chase of 355 runs on the final day. Go Beyond The Boundary with our YouTube channel. Watch:Despite his failure, skipper Ayush Mhatre took charge of the chase with a blistering counterattack. Displaying remarkable composure and controlled aggression, Mhatre smashed 13 4s and six sixes to race to 126 runs, lifting India’s spirits and keeping the chase alive.Mhatre’s 126 off 80 balls at a staggering strike rate of 157.50 was the highlight of the innings, unsettling the English bowlers and injecting hope into an improbable chase. Meanwhile, Vihaan Malhotra and wicketkeeper-batter Abhigyan Kundu provided valuable support, rotating strike and ensuring the scoreboard kept ticking. While the road to victory remains steep, India’s fearless batting approach in the second innings stands out. Mhatre’s heroics, in particular, have caught attention, especially after his recent stint with Chennai Super Kings in the IPL.
