NEW DELHI: India’s pace spearhead Jasprit Bumrah may not have had the ball in hand on Day 3 of the second Test at Edgbaston, but his presence was felt in an unexpected way. Seated calmly in the Indian dugout, Bumrah was seen wearing a radio earwig — a device commonly used by fans and support staff to follow live commentary. As India, having posted a towering 587 in their first innings, searched for a breakthrough against a resilient partnership between Harry Brook and Jamie Smith, the camera briefly panned to Bumrah. Former India head coach Ravi Shastri, on commentary, couldn’t resist pointing out what could have been.“Can you imagine if Jasprit was out there in the middle with that many runs on the board? He’s listening. England wouldn’t have been happy,” said Shastri.WATCH: India eventually bowled England out for 407, taking a substantial first-innings lead of 180 runs. Mohammed Siraj led the attack with a fiery 6/70, claiming crucial wickets including Joe Root (22) and Ben Stokes (0).

Akash Deep (4/88) ended the 303-run stand between Brook (158) and Smith (184*) by dismissing Brook post-tea, before cleaning up Chris Woakes. Siraj then polished off the tail, removing Carse, Tongue, and Bashir — all for ducks.
