A video appears to show the moment a US Immigration and Customs Enforcement agent attempted to enter the Consulate of Ecuador in Minneapolis, according to the Ecuadorian government. The agent was denied access by consular officials.

The Ecuadorian Consulate was promoted to activate emergency protocols following the incident and says the foreign minister “immediately presented a note of protest” to prevent similar attempts from playing out in other consular offices in the US.

The BBC’s Ione Wells takes a closer look at what happened and the Ecuadorian government’s response.
