Did you know Sunjay Kapur had created a '10-year-plan’ before his death? Hoped his family would ‘love each other’ even after his passing
Businessman Sunjay Kapur passed away in a freak accident. He had recently outlined a 10-year plan focused on family and values. Kapur emphasized trust and unity. He wanted his children to grow up with strong values. He was committed to work, health, and family. Kapur served on the board of Sona Comstar and The Doon School.

In a poignant turn of events, businessman Sunjay Kapur, who tragically passed away earlier this month in a freak accident, had only recently spoken about his vision for the future. Just three months before his death, Kapur shared in an interview that he had drawn up a 10-year life plan, with a heartfelt focus on family, values, and unity—hoping his loved ones would continue to support and cherish one another long after he was gone.In a recent appearance on the Indian Silicon Valley podcast, Sunjay opened up about the values that guided his life. He emphasized the importance of trust, respect, and unity within a family, sharing that he and his wife had been taking weekly coaching sessions on parenting and the Bhagavad Gita. Kapur expressed his desire for his children to grow up with values rooted in togetherness and mutual respect. He further added that building a strong, united family unit was essential to him, especially since they came from a blended family. Acknowledging the challenges, Kapur said he felt fortunate that everyone in their home worked together with love and understanding—something he hoped would continue even beyond his and his wife’s lifetime.Reflecting on life after stepping away from an active executive role, Sunjay Kapur shared that he had crafted a detailed 10-year plan in October—not focused on goals, but on priorities. He emphasized his commitment to both work and non-work engagements, including health, fitness, and family. A passionate polo player, Kapur said he plays as often as possible and values staying active. He also highlighted the importance of giving back to his family and contributing through his foundation. “I’m not someone who can sit idle,” he said, calling it a luxury to be the master of one’s own time.Sunjay Kapur, a prominent businessman and board member of the ₹40,000 crore-valued Sona Comstar, also served on the board of The Doon School and was an avid polo player. He tragically passed away on June 13 after accidentally swallowing a bee during a polo match in England, which led to cardiac arrest. His body was brought back to India, and his funeral was held in New Delhi. In attendance were his former wife Karisma Kapoor, their children Samara and Kiaan, her sister Kareena Kapoor, and brother-in-law Saif Ali Khan. Sunjay is survived by his wife Priya Sachdev and four children.
