Did you know Salman Khan once slapped Subhash Ghai at a Bollywood party? 'That person hit me with a spoon, almost broke a plate on my face, urinated on my shoes...'
Salman Khan and Subhash Ghai had a clash at a Bollywood party. Salman admitted to slapping Ghai. He claimed Ghai misbehaved. Salim Khan, Salman’s father, intervened. Salman apologized to Ghai the next day. Ghai accepted the apology. He cast Salman in ‘Yuvvraaj’. The film became a flop. Both moved on after the incident.

In a career filled with highs, hits, and headlines, Salman Khan has also seen his fair share of controversies—but few were as shocking as his clash with veteran filmmaker Subhash Ghai. The industry was left stunned when reports emerged of a heated altercation between the two at a Bollywood party, leading to a moment that would become one of the most talked-about episodes in Salman’s tumultuous journey. Here’s what really happened behind the scenes. In an old interview with Lehren, Salman admitted to slapping Subhash Ghai but clarified that he wasn’t under the influence of alcohol. He claimed the situation escalated after Ghai repeatedly misbehaved—allegedly hitting him with a spoon, nearly smashing a plate on his face, urinating on his shoes, and grabbing him by the neck. Despite the provocation, Salman said he apologized to the filmmaker the very next day.Reportedly, Salman Khan’s father, veteran screenwriter Salim Khan, stepped in to mediate the situation. After asking Salman if he recognized his mistake—and receiving a nod—Salim encouraged his son to make amends. Following his father’s advice, Salman visited Subhash Ghai the next day and personally apologized for his actions.Adding his side of the story, the filmmaker recalled in an interview that Salman Khan showed up the next day looking like a guilty child. When Ghai asked what had happened the night before, Salman said he came because his father asked him to. When questioned further, Salman admitted he was truly sorry, helping them clear the air and move on.After actor’s apology, Subhash chose to let bygones be bygones and moved forward with grace. He went on to cast Salman in his film Yuvvraaj, alongside Katrina Kaif, Anil Kapoor, and Zayed Khan. However, despite the star-studded cast, the film turned out to be one of the biggest flops in both their careers.
