Darsheel Safary on not joining 'Sitaare Zameen Par': 'Made peace and moved on...'
Darsheel Safary, known for ‘Taare Zameen Par’, revealed he chose not to join the sequel ‘Sitaare Zameen Par’, having made peace with it long ago. He emphasized the original film’s team effort and shared how Aamir Khan taught him to stay grounded and maintain a learning attitude throughout his journey.

Darsheel Safary first captured hearts with his portrayal of a dyslexic boy in Aamir Khan’s ‘Taare Zameen Par’, a story about overcoming obstacles and finding hope despite harsh criticism. With the release of the spiritual sequel ‘Sitaare Zameen Par’, fans wondered about his absence. In a recent interview, Darsheel opened up about why he chose not to be part of the new film.Perspective on the Sequel and Team EffortWhen asked about his feelings on not being part of the sequel during an interview with Bollywood Bubbles, Darsheel explained that it depends on the individual. He mentioned that if there is too much focus on him for a particular thing, he tends to shy away from it. He stressed that the original film was a team effort, with every person contributing to its existence. He pointed out that Khan’s essence is present in every part of the film and that Amol Gupte’s writing was truly magical. Although many credit him for the film, he clarified that he simply did what he was told. For him, it was never just about himself but about all the people involved, the story, and the emotions conveyed.Acceptance and Moving ForwardHe further mentioned that he had made his peace with the situation long ago. When the sequel was announced, he was briefly excited and expected to be involved. However, upon seeing that the project was moving in a different direction, he accepted it as part of the journey that one has to embrace and move on from.Reflections on Fame and LearningDiscussing the attention he received following ‘Taare Zameen Par’ and the valuable lesson from Aamir about maintaining a learning mindset, Darsheel acknowledged his good fortune in being unaware of the pressures at the time. He explained, “I got lucky as I had no knowledge about it. So I had no clue of what was happening around me. I still don’t understand the concept of limelight. I feel that you do work and it gets highlighted.” Being only eight years old then, he only grasped the full significance of the experience as he grew older. To sharpen his skills, he turned to theatre, emphasizing the importance of a learning attitude. He credited Aamir Khan, along with his family and friends, for always reminding him to stay grounded, a principle he continues to follow.
