In what felt like a scene pulled straight from a feel-good sports drama, Phil Salt’s past 48 hours have been nothing short of magical. The England and RCB opener not only played a key role in helping Royal Challengers Bengaluru lift their maiden IPL trophy, but also became a father for the very first time. After the thrilling six-run win over Punjab Kings in the IPL 2025 final at the Narendra Modi Stadium, Virat Kohli took to Instagram to share a photo with Salt where both holding the IPL trophy and with a caption that melted hearts:“Well done partner. Now go back to the real stuff and get ready for changing diapers.”

Salt’s whirlwind journey has made him the toast of RCB fans. While he didn’t have a big score in the final, his early tournament impact and unwavering energy in the field were crucial to RCB’s dream run. His stunning catch in the deep during the final — reverse cupped while running at full tilt — was one of the defining moments of the night.

But the biggest moment of Salt’s life came just hours before the match, when he welcomed his first child. Flying back to India in time for the final, Salt showed incredible commitment and capped it with silverware.

For Salt, the last two days were more than cricket. It was about legacy, both personal and professional and RCB’s long-awaited glory was the perfect way to begin a new chapter in more ways than one.
