Ange Postecoglou’s Future at Tottenham in Doubt as Club Restructures Leadership

Ange Postecoglou is set to learn his fate as Tottenham Hotspur manager this week, with sources confirming that major decisions are being made behind the scenes at the club. The uncertainty surrounding Ange Postecoglou’s position comes as Tottenham announced the departure of executive director Donna-Maria Cullen on Monday, signaling significant boardroom changes.

Despite guiding Spurs to their first piece of silverware in 17 years by winning the UEFA Europa League last month, Ange Postecoglou is now reportedly at high risk of losing his job. Sources close to the situation told ESPN that the 59-year-old Australian is under serious threat, following what was statistically the club’s worst-ever Premier League campaign – including 22 losses, a record for a non-relegated team.

Ange Postecoglou is currently on holiday and has admitted uncertainty over whether he will complete the final two years of his contract. In an interview with the Australian Broadcasting Corporation on Monday, he stressed the importance of not resting on recent success, saying, “Don’t settle for this… let’s make sure we’re back here again.”

The newly appointed CEO, Vinai Venkatesham, who officially began his tenure this week, is expected to have a key role in determining Ange Postecoglou’s future. His arrival is part of a broader restructuring process that could reshape Tottenham’s football operations and leadership model.

Potential replacements for Ange Postecoglou are already being considered, including Brentford’s Thomas Frank, Fulham’s Marco Silva, and Bournemouth’s Andoni Iraola, although Iraola is reportedly close to signing a new deal with his current club.

Tottenham’s official statement on Cullen’s exit describes it as the first of several changes at the executive level. Cullen, who joined the Spurs board in 2006 and played a pivotal role in the club’s growth, said: “This has been such a hard decision to make. The club has been my life for the past three decades… Ending this season with the Europa League trophy was a dream come true.”

Chairman Daniel Levy also paid tribute to Cullen’s contribution, noting her impact across a range of areas, including stadium development and political negotiations. Levy stated, “Replacing her roles with a single individual will be impossible.”

Meanwhile, Venkatesham is already advertising for senior support staff, indicating more significant moves are on the horizon. There are also doubts about the future of chief football officer Scott Munn, alongside expected changes in Tottenham’s medical and sports science departments.

As speculation intensifies, all eyes remain on Tottenham Hotspur and whether Ange Postecoglou will remain at the helm. A final decision is expected in the coming days, with the club’s long-term vision hanging in the balance.
